Tahj Jenkins is a high-flying, explosive frontcourt player who brings relentless energy and athleticism to the floor. With a lightning-quick first step and elite vertical ability, Jenkins is a nightmare for defenses in pick-and-roll situations and transition. He thrives as a rim-runner, finishing lobs and dump-offs with authority and showing no hesitation when it comes to attacking the basket with force.
His bread and butter is the pick-and-roll—he’s an exceptional screener who rolls hard and demands defensive attention with his ability to finish above the rim. Jenkins also has a soft touch around the basket, with an effective short hook and an improving face-up game. He can put the ball on the floor in straight lines and punish defenders who give him space. He’s got solid touch from mid-range, especially on elbow jumpers and short corner shots.
Playmaking & Basketball IQ:
Jenkins is a willing passer and understands how to make quick reads in short-roll situations. He can find shooters on the perimeter and kick out when double-teamed. He plays within himself, doesn’t try to do too much, and keeps the offense moving with smart, simple decisions.
His offensive awareness is solid—he knows how to position himself in the dunker spot, time his cuts, and space properly when playing alongside other creators. He plays fast, but with a purpose.
Defensive Strengths:
Defensively, Jenkins is a high-energy presence with shot-blocking instincts and excellent help-side timing. He rotates quickly to protect the rim and uses his athleticism to challenge shots without fouling. While he’s still developing as a one-on-one post defender, his quickness and bounce allow him to recover well and contest effectively.
He has the mobility to switch onto perimeter players in short bursts, making him a valuable piece in modern, switch-heavy defensive schemes. His rebounding is aggressive—he attacks the glass hard on both ends and often creates second-chance opportunities with his effort alone.
